Our Sustainability Journey

Climate change is the most pressing environmental challenge facing society today, increasingly recognised as a materially important topic for businesses of all sizes. The 2020s are a critical decade for delivery of climate ambition. The window of opportunity for effective action to secure a sustainable future for all is rapidly closing. The world’s remaining carbon budget will be exhausted within the decade if emission rates continue at their current levels. As warming increases, so does the risk of reaching irreversible tipping points in climate and ecological systems, highlighting the increasingly urgent need for action.

HVO Fuel

HVO, which stands for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, is an advanced renewable diesel made from certified sustainable materials that can be used as a direct replacement for red and white diesel. HVO fuel is synthesised through the hydrotreatment of vegetable oils, which eliminates up to 90% of net CO2 emissions.

Tyldesley Distribution Services Ltd have been running successful HVO trials for the last 12 months on a number of vehicles.

LST Trailers

Tyldesley Distribution Services have recently welcome some new purpose built Longer-semi trailers (LST) to our fleet.

LST trailers can be up to 15.65 metres in length, which is up to 2.05 metres longer than a current standard semi-trailer (13.6 metres)

Euro 6 Engines

Euro 6 standards have made vans and trucks cleaner, more fuel efficient and in some cases more powerful than ever before.

London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) allows diesel vehicles to escape an additional, daily charge to enter the centre of the capital provided the vehicle is Euro 6 compliant. In addition to London, several other cities in the UK are actively considering low-emission zones to improve air quality, which would require similar compliance for all vehicles.

As part of our sustainability journey 95% of our fleet is now Euro 6.
